The sister of Carson Roberts (communications), on the 2nd Squdron Roster, is seeking any ....That's ANY information regarding his service with the Tigers. All she is aware of, in this regards, is that he supposidly was killed accidently in 1943, when his plane flew into a mountain. I will print and give to Ms. Roberts any info obtainable. Thank you, Don Dull  former U.S. Marine M.P. Tientsin, China '46-'47

Ms. Roberts just brought me over some old pics, taken by Carson Roberts in 1939. One shows a line of P-40s with the famous emblem emblazed on the nose. Another shows a single P-40, with the same emblem, lying on it's nose with both wheels evidently collapsed. It has a large number 6 on the rear.....Anyone know of this plane?
Thanks,
Don Dull

If these photos were taken in 1939 they were not photos of the AVG. We did not go into business until 1941.

There were several pics. that Ms. Roberts brought over for me to see, in the album. Most of them were underscored with "1939" in pencil. Come to think of it, the plane pics. were not..... I just assumed.....
She has added a little more to Carson's story....
Upon disbandment of the AVG, he returned to the states and joined the Navy, subsequently taking  pilot's training at San Diago, received his wings and 2nd Lts. bars. He was killed in southern France in a plane crash (piloting?) in November of 1944. His body was returned to the states and interred at the Veteran's Cemetary in San Francisco. He was only 22 when he died, consequently, he must have only been about 17 when he was in China??????

Thanks for the correction,
Don
