My father owns a Flying Tiger flag.  He was not a member of the unit but came to own it when he purchased a local tavern.  Harold G. Wylie's name is on the flag. Please contact him at 609-585-5081 if you are interested in purchasing the flag.  His name is Richard Voss.

I would be interested in also seeing what flag looks like! :)  I do AVG Living History and I also would be a buyer who would cherish and preserve it properly for future generations.

Apparently my attempt to attach the photo failed.  My husband who is extremely computer literate wasn't able to successfully attach it either.  The photo is JPEG format so I don't know if that had something to do with it or not.  Anyway, you can e-mail me and then I'll reply with the attached photo.  Thanks, Heather

If I agreed with you, then we'd both be wrong
Is that what the insignia looked like before Disney studios got ahold of it or is that someone elses rendering of the Disney version?

To my knowledge a banner  was given to each member of the AVG after the copyrited Disney emblem was seen in China. It was embroidered by the Chinese in appreciation and an indiidual personal  momento of our service
It was never meant to be considered as an AVG flag.

There was no logo/insignia for the AVG prior to Disney designing the winged tiger flying out of the V.  Often the embroidered or stitched versions on banners or scarves, etc. were not as detailed, possibly because they were made from memory rather than while looking at one of the Disney-designed examples.

I have watched this post for some time. The banner posted is an original. It is the Chinese version of the AVG tiger. These banners were purchased by the individual veterans. They were not given to the Tigers. There were scarves given by the Generlissimo and Madam at Christmas and numerous smaller items, but not large banners like this.

This banner is extremely faded. It has obviously spent many years under UV or exposed to sunlight. The border was originally deep dark blue. Here is one of mine and you can see the colors.

The banner I recieved in Kunming in 1942 had my name on it with NO DATE and was a gift from the Chinese people. It  may have been a bit smaller in over  size.
Believe  Dick Rossi had it displayed in the San Diego museum at one time.

The  AVG was also in Burma in 1941. This banner may have been purchased
in 1942  and to my knowlege was not a gift.
