Thank you so very much for the information. I was working on the 75th and 74th A-10C's this weekend. The Flying Tigers was reactivated back in June 09. We go by Vangaurd Maint. or Devils Angels.
I really want to thank you for the help. God Bless.

cousin of Maax C. Hammer, Jr., AVG 22Sep41 RIP
DING HAO-----One of the best examples of this phrase is the name of James H. Howard's P-40B (#57, tail #P-8138), of the Panda Bears in the 2nd Pursuit Squadron.  Jim Howard was a Navy pilot who was born in Canton, China and "Ding Hao" was a very appropriate name ("Very good") as he was credited with destroying 6.33 Japanese a/c while flying with the AVG.

Later, he was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on 11 Jan 44 when then
Major Howard was CO of the 356FS (the "Red Ass" Sqdn. of the 354FG, 9AF).
Over Oschersleben, Germany, he singlehandedly defended a group of American B-17 bombers, while downing 4 enemy a/c.  He was credited with 7 kills in the ETO, bringing his WWII total to 13.3.    His P-51B was "Ding Hao"
